Personal Financial Specialist

About Me
I am a flat fee financial planner offering fiduciary, fee-only financial advice in Ohio and across the country.

Before establishing my own financial planning practice, I worked for S&T Bank in Indiana, Pennsylvania for 29 years. One of my responsibilities was helping the bank’s employees to structure their benefits packages to meet their personal and family financial goals.
In this realm, I developed a deep knowledge of how to advise employees to manage their savings by utilizing defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, company 401(k) match, restricted stock awards and units, non-qualified deferred compensation arrangements and health savings accounts. I also directed the bank's financial wellness program and offered in person and virtual classes on retirement planning, budgeting, and other relevant areas of personal finance.

My Background
Education
I graduated from Grace College in Winona Lake, IN, with a bachelor of science in Accounting.

Certificates
I am a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Ohio and Pennsylvania, with a Personal Financial Specialist credential.
I am also a Chartered Global Management Accountant. I am a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Estate Planning Council of Cleveland.

Specialization
As a CPA, I bring an emphasis on tax efficiency to financial planning. I consider the tax impact of planning strategies to be critical to properly serving individual clients and small businesses.

As a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), a credential is granted exclusively to CPAs, I am an experienced tax professional with a comprehensive knowledge of financial planning. All areas of personal financial planning — estate, retirement, investments and insurance — have tax implications. A CPA/PFS has the experience, ethics and financial knowledge to get the job done right.

From my years in the bank, particularly leading compensation and benefits, I have a strong understanding of employee compensation programs, including executive compensation.
